Over 450 foreign buyers expected to attend the Conference.
Chicago-headquartered Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), a global network of travel and event professionals with over 1,900 members in over 90 countries, recently announced that this year its International Conference will be held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi from October 23-25. With the theme of ‘Awaken your Senses’, the Conference is expected to attract over 450 foreign buyers and showcase India as a key incentive travel destination to newer markets. Pre-registrations would be required for a pre-event tour of the Taj Mahal and more than 14 post-event tours. The cost of registration starts from USD 895 for members and USD 1,195 for non-members.
Having been associated with SITE for over 18 years, Anup Nair, Conference Chair and President, SITE India Chapter, revealed, “The Ministry of Tourism along with Air India will host 25 top incentive tour operators from all over the world to leverage incentive travel business into India. Overall, we expect that over 450 foreign delegates (including over 250 American buyers) related to the incentive travel industry globally will come down for the event. Thus, this would be a great opportunity to showcase India as a premier incentive destination to key markets such as USA, and break the myth that a 17-hour flight from USA to India is a big turn-off.” The International Chapter Presidents will also promote the SITE Global Conference 2015 in their respective Chapters.
Nair said that the event will serve as a knowledge forum and an excellent opportunity for the incentive travel industry in India to network with foreign stakeholders and build relations. The sessions at the conference would deliberate on trends and issues related to technology, human resource, return on investment, and more, he added.
The Conference will include ceremonies of the SITE Crystal Awards and SITE Global Awards. Besides, the current Global President of SITE, Rhonda Brewer will hand over the responsibility to Rajeev Kohli, who will assume the role for next year. Republic of Panama, which is the host destination for Global Conference 2016, will host a luncheon.
Dr Devdutt Pattanaik, a leadership consultant, mythologist, and bestselling author, will also be a keynote speaker at the event. Deep Dive Workshops – ‘Experience India’ will focus on portraying India as a leading incentive travel destination, and will cover the topics of yoga, Indian cooking, Bollywood, mythology, and Indian culture.
On the sidelines, Nair informed that with the Global Conference coming to India, they plan to add about 100 members to the SITE India Chapter. The Chapter currently has 38 members in India and four in Nepal. “SITE has realised that Asia cannot be ignored, and that the continent will soon be the hub of future growth. On April 17, 2015 the India Chapter Governing Council will meet to discuss on how best to utilise this golden opportunity,” he added.
Talking about the Young Leaders Program (launched in India in January 2015), which is open to industry professionals aged 35 years or less and who have less than five years of experience, Nair averred that the professional body of SITE aims to bring together the fresh approach of young professionals – the millennial mindset and the experienced generation – thereby building business opportunities. Nitin Sachdeva, Executive Director, Venture Marketing, and Ayesha Nageshwaran, Director – Strategy and Development, Incent Tours, are the Co-Chairs for SITE India Young Leaders Body. They plan to conduct a workshop this year.
